Piano Lessons

Why learn the piano?

Learning to play the piano is a deeply rewarding experience that combines fun, personal growth and creative expression.

Imagine the joy of sitting down at the piano and playing a piece you love - just for your own enjoyment or to share with friends and family. Whether it’s a quiet moment alone or a shared performance, music really lifts the spirit.

While learning the piano does require time and patience, the sense of achievement that comes with each new skill is incredibly fulfilling. Each step forward builds not only musical ability but perseverance and focus.

As students learn to express themselves through music and overcome challenges along the way, they naturally develop greater confidence and self-esteem - benefits that extend far beyond the music room.

One-to-one lessons

I teach from my home in Ipswich on my lovely baby grand piano. Students include children and adults from complete beginner through to advanced grades. Lessons are typically 30 minutes long and are tailored to individual student objectives, learning needs and progress. So, if there is something in particular you want to focus on (e.g. learning a favourite piece of music, working towards exams, preparing for performances, or brushing off the cobwebs and enjoy playing again after a break) I’ll work out a plan with you to help you achieve your goals.

Lessons also incorporate music theory, sight-reading and ear training in a fun and engaging way to develop well-rounded musicians (lots of clapping and games, especially with little ones!).
